Installing TTF Fonts on Ubuntu 10.10

This is the easiest way to install fonts ever! I dont know if these steps can also be done in Ubuntu prior to this version.

  1. Open your Nautilus (Files and folder browser). Places > Home Folder.
  2. From the menu, choose : View > Show Hidden Files. Or simply just press Ctrl+H.
  3. Create new folder folder named “.fonts” (with dot / hidden files).
  4. Just copy your ttf fonts to this folder.
  5. Run GIMP or any other text manipulation software (ie. Office) to make sure this works.
